The fine balance of managing property

Welcome to my landlord blog.

Managing property is a delicate balancing act. On the one hand, you must ensure that the property is well maintained and that its occupants are safe and happy. On the other hand, you must ensure that the property is profitable and that it meets legal and other requirements.

This balance can be achieved by using both your head and your heart in equal proportions.

This means taking the time to understand the needs of tenants, appreciating this is their home and there is a person behind the word “tenant” whilst at the same time remembering that the property is an investment and you need to make decisions that will maximize revenue while minimizing costs.

It’s a fine balance that needs to be managed carefully which I believe I have mastered in my over 20 years in business.
